The selected candidate will provide project support for environmental projects, related to commercial, state, county and federal clients. Candidate will be responsible for project management, field work (including sediment, soil and groundwater sampling, and drilling supervision), preparation of sampling plans and technical reports. Candidate will assist in preparing environmental compliance documents, including NEPA and HRS 343, state, federal and county permits, as well as natural resource management plans.

3 - 5 years of environmental consulting experience in Hawaii is required, including Hawaii-based natural resource experience. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Hawaiian terrestrial resources and/or water resources and the environmental regulations associated with them. You will also have working knowledge of HEER Office Technical Guidance Manual (TGM) and experience with NEPA and HRS 343 and State and county land-use permits preferred.

We are looking for someone who has experience with DoD, State, and private sector projects and experience in preparation of work plans and technical reports. Previous environmental field experience is required, with ability to work independently on field projects. Experience in sediment, soil and groundwater sampling, and environmental drilling operations, and soil gas sampling is a plus. Ability to interpret and summarize analytical chemistry data preferred.

The successful candidate has the ability to interface with clients, subcontractors, working groups and internal customers and is able to communicate effectively and make evaluated decisions for the betterment of the client and the company. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and a positive attitude is a plus. Candidate should be self-motivated and able to take directions and work independently.

MS in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Sciences is preferred. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training, OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations Management and Supervisor Training, and advanced scuba certification are helpful but not required. Must live in Hawaii at the time of application.

The work environment will consist of approximately 70% in the office, with occasional extended periods of field work. Part-time candidates (approximately 24 hours per week) will be considered, although would need to be available to work forty-hour weeks during occasional summer field work. Minimal travel required, expected to be predominantly within the main Hawaiian Islands. Must have the ability to handle general lifting associated with field sampling. Occasional work on vessels in harbors and in nearshore Hawaiian waters is expected.
