Certified Medical Coder
Group practice consisting of four surgeons seeks experienced, Certified Medical Coder with billing knowledge & experience. Position reports to office manager and works closely with TeamPraxis billing department, physicians, patients, office manager, fellow employees & outside vendors. Required work hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Requires reliable and consistent attendance. Two (3) years + of medical billing and coding (ICD-9 & CPT) experience required & 2+ years of medical office experience. Need to have CPC &/or CPB with AAPC (not CPC-A or CPB-A).
Position requires accurately performing all data entry and documentation tasks using computer-based EHR and practice management system. Verifies & reviews charges & documentation submitted by physicians. Supplies proper documentation for insurance claims when submitted to TeamPraxis (when required). Must answer patient questions (phone and in-person) regarding their accounts and follow-up on delinquent accounts. Must follow procedures on registering and recording insurance, and maintaining medical records to HIPAA compliance and privacy.
Individual desired should be able to work effectively both independently and with a team. Must have a personable disposition and have excellent customer service skills. Must be willing to learn and train on practice management system (ConnxtMD) and EMR (Touchworks), hard working, detail oriented, good organizational skills, computer literate, understand some medical terminology. Must have the ability to handle high volume of work and multi-task assignments and have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be extremely organized and able to work in a fast paced and demanding environment with interruptions.
