PLEX-ID BIOSENSOR TECHNOLOGIST

Biosensor technologist with PLEX ID experience needed for full-time position in Honolulu, Hawaii, for broad-range microbial surveillance, verification of Plex-ID assays and development of new molecular biology screening methods.    This position requires assisting to characterize disease patterns and perform data analyses with respect to demographic information and seasonal differences over time.  Other responsibilities include performing Plex-ID PCR MS electrospray biosensor assays, maintaining the Plex-ID machine, and also perform studies with animal models of disease states or wound infection, and analyze human clinical specimens. Interested candidates please reply with salary requirements and date available to start. Mahalo!  RequirementsMinimum qualifications: 
  • A minimum of a master’s degree in a basic biomedical field (to include, but not limited to biological sciences, forensic science, physiology) with at least 2 years experience in biosensor microbial testing laboratory procedures.
 
  • At least 2 years experience utilizing polymerase chain reaction and electro spray ionization mass spectroscopy (PCR/ESI-MS) on the PLEX ID (Abbott) platform. Must be able to supervise the complete process of microbial identification utilizing polymerase chain reaction and electro spray ionization mass spectroscopy (PCR/ESI-MS) on the PLEX-ID (Abbott) platform. This process includes handling pathogenic microorganisms, isolating their genetic material, performing PCR/ESI-MS, and interpreting the data produced by the PLEX-ID platform.
 
  • Must be willing to work with human specimens and animal models and adhere to all regulatory requirements associated with human research protections and laboratory animal care and use.
 
  • Experience in presenting data in written and graphic presentations suitable for publication in scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences
 
  • Possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that he/she can relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds
 
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently.
