Research Technician - Shop Mechanic - Seeds & Traits R&D

The primary purpose of this job is to supervise all equipment repair and maintenance activities of the sites shop facility. In addition, the position must participate in overall site activities to support the achievement of company deliverables for Environmental Health & Safety, people development, and budget success.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Supervise daily shop and equipment repair activities, including leading temporary staff
• Lead all trouble shooting diagnostic and mechanical repair process.
• Lead all fabrication, welding and special project initiatives.
• Perform preventive maintenance service (PMS) and repair work on all company vehicles.
• Perform PMS and repair work on all farm equipment, tractors, sprayers and implements.
• Organize and maintain the shop area.
• Maintain the maintenance service and repair data base.
• Manage and maintain inventory on all shop tools, equipment, parts and supplies.
• Manage all fuel and oil supply inventory.
• Lead and manage all service, supply and repair purchases.
• Be actively involved in the implementation of the sites EH&S policies, initiatives and practices.
• Support and help lead the sites team empowerment process.
• Be an active and engaged member of all site work-teams.

This position is located on Molokai, HI, USA.  Requirements

• Hawaii Drivers License
• High SchoolDiploma
• Minimum 4 years of mechanical work experience in equipment, vehicle and tractor repair service.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory role capacity
• Knowledge in proper use of mechanical tools.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Consideration

• Certification, license, recognition and/or training award related to a mechanical field discipline
• College experience
• Ability to read, follow and consult equipment operation, service and parts manuals.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and utilize diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and identify equipment issues.
• Previous job performance, leadership and or safety award recognition.
