Americas Logistics Combat Support Agency
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) agency. DLA provides worldwide logistics support for the missions of the Military Departments and the Unified Combatant Commands under conditions of peace and war. It also provides logistics support to other DoD Components and certain Federal agencies, foreign governments, international organizations, and others as authorized.

This notice is issued under the direct-hire authority. Using Office of Personnel Management (OPM) approved government-wide direct hire authorities, agencies may appoint candidates directly to jobs, without regard to the provisions of Title 5 U.S.C. 3309 through 3318, for which OPM determines that there is a severe shortage of candidates or a critical hiring need.
As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will be responsible for the following duties:
· Reviews various automated systems documentation and operating instructions to identify security measures provided.
· Establishes security procedures to implement guidance throughout the activity.
· Identifies individual functional requirements in order to determine extent of access needed and to ensure access is provided to authorized personnel.
· Maintains data owner policies in current status and performs user account administration based upon the knowledge of data owner policy, application requirements, and ADP security regulations.
· Analyzes operational problems, takes appropriate action, and leads a team effort, as needed, to ensure systems remains on-line.
· Develops local plans, policies and practices necessary to provide guidance and assistance in all aspects account management.
· Reviews and analyzes potential problem areas that may arise in getting access to data.
· Evaluates various brands of computer and display or other information technology hardware and software for recommended upgrade/replacement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements, minimum qualifications and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Examples of creditable specialized experience are:
GS-12:
· Establishes procedures to implement guidance throughout the activity.
· Reviews and evaluates the security impact of system changes to include interfaces with existing or proposed computerized systems.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

EDUCATION:
Applicants may not qualify for the GS-12 level of this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience.

Department of Defense Policy Statement 8570.1-M (Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program) requires individuals to receive an Information Assurance (IA) certification within 6 months of entering the position.
