The position is located in the Regional Safety Department, Commander, Navy Region Hawaii under the program management of the Regional Safety Director.

· Resolving technical safety/traffic issues to by following the safety standards and specification. 

· Conducting safety training which involve qualifications/certifications (i.e. Fall protection, Lock Out/Tag Out, Confined space.) in order to ensure protection of people/property.

· Preparing schedule for timely and realistic completion of work. 

·  Identifying developmental and training needs for personnel.

·  Evaluating the progress and quality of work completed by the subordinates.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.   Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities, as they relate to this position. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

1) Applying plans, procedures, standards, specifications, manuals, and technical work procedures specifying occupational safety and health requirements; 2) Applying specifications and standards as related to occupational safety and health, recreational safety and traffic safety; 3) Applying the application of data gathering and problem solving to identify and resolve Safety and Occupational Health issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade.  All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

 

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
