Control Systems Lead Engineer at Kamuela

Job Description

The W.M. Keck Observatory seeks a Control Systems Lead Engineer to join the high-performance multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for the operation of our world-class telescopes.

Desired competencies include: Experience with hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance and optimization of electronic control systems; proven technical leadership, communication and teamwork skills; and good organizational skills.  Ideal candidate has a systems-level understanding of observatory functions; is able to identify long-term performance, reliability and efficiency improvements; and can effectively implement those improvements.

 

The Observatory operates two of the largest, most scientifically productive optical/infrared telescopes in the world.  The twin 10-meter telescopes are located at one of the premier sites for astronomy, set amidst several other world class observatories at the 14,000 foot summit of Mauna Kea, on the spectacular Big Island of Hawaii.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a highly skilled, innovative and deeply committed team of professionals who excel at enabling the most exciting and important astronomical discoveries in the world.

Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Five (5) years’ related experience.
