FINANCIAL/ACCOUNTING ANALYST
JOB SUMMARY
The Financial/Accounting Analyst will provide clerical and technical support of accounting, budget, and other related financial management work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Performs formulation of budget and cost estimates to support plans, programs, and activities. Review and evaluate budget requests. Control, and reporting of obligations and expenditures.
Work may include development, determination, and interpretation of budgetary policies and practices.
Knowledge of and ability to provide information about, and interpret standard organizational budgetary, accounting, or financial administrative procedures. practices, and regulations. Researches guides to locate accounting, budgetary and financial information and prepares summaries for use by managers.
Performs specialized work involving managerial or administrative work in connection with accounting systems; analytical, forecasting, and interpretive functions associated with the management and control of resources or funds; tracking and control of funds for special programs; analytical or program work pertaining to payroll, cash control, or benefit systems.
A variety of other fiscal, accounting or financial management duties and responsibilities may also be performed by incumbents of this position.
Work consists of performing varied duties by applying a series of different and unrelated, but established methods, practices, and techniques.
Compiles, analyzes, and summarizes financial and/or budget information related to assigned areas of a financial program.
Applies a wide range of standard practices and procedures to phases of an annual budget and/or financial administrative processes. Researches regulatory material to obtain factual information. Applies a wide range of analytical techniques to search results.
Communicate with inside and outside the immediate organization to plan, arrange, coordinate, or advise on work efforts and/or arrange for meetings to obtain information/data.
Knowledge of and skill in applying functions, goals and objective.
Work processes and funding sources sufficient to related needs and accomplishments to anticipated or actual dollar figures.
Ensure Data posted in the system is accurate and complete by reviewing and analyzing current and prior years executed funds, verifying funds availability, funding spent within the authorized amounts.
Post transactions to the correct lines of accounting.
Identify necessary corrections
Provide financial status reports as required. This may include responding to data calls, conducting tri-annual document review and various funds status reports.
Ensure posting of fund status reports, detail reimbursable logs, etc. are timely and accurate.
Perform other duties as required
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or other business-related field
5+ years experience demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of government accounting, financial and budget analysis
Experience with Government Accounting Software
Professional knowledge of the DFAR, FAR, WAWF and CAS policies and procedures
Must be able to obtain a government security clearance in the near future
