WHO MAY APPLY:
I am a current, permanent U.S. Navy or Marine Corps civilian employee serving under a career or career conditional appointment assigned to UIC 62478 (NAVFAC HAWAII), residing in the state of Hawaii. Note: Your most recent Notification of Personnel Action, SF-50, must show UIC 62478 in block 41, duty location of Hawaii in block 39, and Tenure 1 or 2 in block 24 to be eligible for this position.
THIS POSITION IS TEMPORARY NOT-TO-EXCEED 1 YEAR. Temporary appointments may be extended up to 2 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.
This position is located in the Environmental Services Branch, Pest Control Section, at Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Hawaii. The incumbent of this position perform procedures to control pests in and around residences, offices, food service areas, storage areas, etc., using both chemical and non-chemical control techniques to achieve effective pest management.

- You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
· Trouble-shooting inspections of assigned facilities, grounds, drainage ditches, marsh, and water areas for pest infestation.
· Operating and/or maintaining hand and power equipment tools such as fogger mist machines, injection pumps, and hand spraying equipment in applying liquids, dust and granules.
· Interpreting building plans and blueprints to locate and avoid building structural support, electrical wiring and ventilation ducts when planning pest control application within walls, ceilings, or floors of buildings.
· Following federal and state rules and regulations when storing and disposing of hazardous waste.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Pest Controller without more than normal supervision such as:
1) Assisting with inspecting buildings and grounds for evidence of conditions conducive to damage and infestations.
2) Assisting with mixing and applying hazardous pesticides in compliance with federal and state requirements.
3) Using safe pesticide and toxic chemical. Disposal methods in poison baiting techniques.
4) Performing arithmetic calculations to determine use of pesticides.

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
