Description:

The Mission Support BU is seeking candidates for a Senior Counter Narcotics Intelligence Analyst at Joint Intelligence Agency Taskforce West (JIATF-W) at Camp Smith.

This position will provide support to the Illicit Tracking Cell (ITC), with a primary responsibility to support the commands principal authority 10 U.S.C. 124 Detection and monitoring of aerial and maritime transit of illegal drugs. Additional support includes critical intelligence analysis for the counter narcotics mission in Asia by researching, interpreting, evaluating and integrating all-source information to assess the relevance and significance of developments in the assigned area. Will perform liaison functions with personnel in other intelligence agencies and commands (including law enforcement (LE) personnel) and participate in interagency / international meetings and conferences; provide analysis of OSINT, HUMINT, SIGINT to include interaction with national authorities, reporting entities, collectors, collection managers and operators at JIATF-W, national level, and the LE community; interface with partner nation counterparts through LE sponsors, counternarcotics intelligence, and law enforcement organizations; operate computer based analysis systems and tools and use a variety of analytical applications, computer systems, and software and ancillary equipment including basic DoD intelligence automated applications, tools and intelligence data bases. Position requirements may necessitate a deployment for up to 6 months per year.

Job Requirements



Bachelors degree and a minimum of six years of all-source and counter-narcotics intelligence analysis experience. Four years additional experience or equivalent formal military training can be substituted for the bachelors degree.

Must have a strong maritime analytical experience, ideally with regard to both commercial cargo containers and vessel monitoring.

Knowledge of or relatable experience using global cargo resources, databases, and analytic methodologies to derive suspect indicators of illicit cargo movements.

Have an understanding of precursor chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine and knowledge of commercial maritime industry and ability to detect and track maritime container shipments using government, commercial vendor, and commercial maritime shipping industry web sites.

Needs to be able to work independently and within a team, and needs to be personable and culturally aware/capable of working with host law enforcement agencies and host country nations to build trust and confidence.

Must possess a professional level of verbal and written communication skills in order to provide and present critical intelligence analysis to senior command representatives, have the ability to research and identify new sources of information and approaches to address drug and precursor chemical trafficking issues.

In addition, needs to have an advanced level of understanding of DoD collection management processes.

Possess an advanced level of understanding of DoD information classification procedures as well as a good understanding of physical security requirements for handling TS/SCI information. Be cognizant of foreign disclosure regulations and processes for sharing information with partner nations.

Desired Qualifications

Have practical experience providing intelligence support to Counterdrug (CD) Detection and Monitoring (D&M) operations air, surface, or other end-game tactical assets.

Language proficiency in any of the following languages: Thai, Indo Bahasa, Hindi, Tagalog, Japanese, Korean or Chinese Mandarin.

Proficiency using Analyst Notebook, as well as, expertise relevant to Asian and Pacific Rim countries, international crime, counternarcotics trafficking, human trafficking and money laundering and previous military intelligence, FBI, DEA, ICE or Military/Law Enforcement operational experience is a plus.
