Location: This vacancy announcement will be used to fill a total of two (2) vacancies at the following locations:
One (1) vacancy will be located in Honolulu, HI
One (1) vacancy will be located at the Hilo Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Hilo, HI
This position supports the Chief of Medical Service or designee, assigned physician (to include physician assistant and nurse practitioner) and performs clinical and administrative duties. Major duties include but are not limited to:
· obtaining vital signs, chief complaint(s) and/or patient history, reporting abnormal and/or significant data, preparing patient for examinations, treatments and procedures, pre-completing forms for patients;
· assisting patients in out-processing, dressing, exiting examination or treatment rooms, reviewing physician orders and assuring completion, instructing patients;
· assuring examination room is clean;
· receiving and reviewing all incoming information daily;
· opening physician mail pertaining to clinical information;
· receiving, in-taking and scanning of health and administrative information, controlling all arriving clinical information;
· ensuring that all necessary health/administrative information are integrated into a database through scanning hardware and software;
· receiving requests from professional, technical and administrative personnel;
· sequencing checks, pulling files;
· receiving encounter forms and assuring completeness;
· rearranging physicians schedule;
· initiating patient appointments for laboratory and x-ray tests;
· and assuring proper accounting for physician workload daily.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30AM to 4:30PM

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Back to topTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
Specialized Experience:
Requires one (1) year of specialized experience related to this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal Service. This is experience such as:
· assisting physicians with examinations, treatments and procedures;
· reporting any adverse reaction and symptoms;
· assisting and instructing patients;
· maintaining a clean environment and disposing of contaminated and disposable items;
· receiving and reviewing medical summaries;
· maintaining and arranging medical records;
· controlling and scanning health and administrative information;
· maintaining and rearranging an appointment schedule;
· and performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties.
OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a Bachelors degree, from an accredited institution, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position can be substituted for the experience required at the GS-05 level. A combination of specialized experience and education (must include courses directly related to the position) may be used to qualify at the GS-05 level. (Copy of transcripts required)
COMBINING EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: If you do not qualify based on education or experience alone, equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. When combining education and experience, first determine total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then, determine qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent when combined.
