Description

The position is a remote Satellite Broadcast Manager (SBM) Systems Engineer for the Global Broadcast Service (GBS) Program. GBS is a direct satellite broadcast technology for the delivery of real-time data, video, data, imagery as well as theater and national level intelligence to the joint military forces.

The candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance on all SBM hardware and software to include satellite uplink equipment. Candidate will perform troubleshooting of failed systems, diagnosis of problems, and effect repairs of a complex information system. Most of the equipment being maintained is commercially available networking equipment. Software maintenance is limited to installation, operation and monitoring. No software coding is required.

The candidate will also field Help Desk calls in support of fielded receive units and assist in troubleshooting and repair of remote systems.

The position entails working flexible, rotating, part-time work schedule.

Hands-on experience with IP networks (switches, routers and firewalls), network security, SNMP and a Windows Server environment is required.

Primary location of work is US Naval Computer Telecommunication Area Master Station Wahiawa, HI.

Security Clearance:

DoD Top Secret

Existing clearance required.

Positions at Raytheon may require U.S.citizenship for purposes of obtaining clearances. Additional clearances may also be required from the DoD.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Required Skills:

Highly motivated self-starter

Excellent interpersonal skills critical to managing working across multiple internal organizations and daily interfacing with Navy operations staff and key customers.

Experience with IP networking

Experience in Windows Server network management

Current DoD Collateral Secret (or above)

Clearance Required.

Desired Skills:

Experience with information assurance ncluding network security, firewalls, and enetration testing

Experience with RF satellite broadcast system

Experience with Linux Server environment

Experience with COTS integration of networks

Possession of a MCP or MCSE a plus

Experience in operations and maintenance of stellite communication and/or broadcast technology a plus.

Minimum Degree: B.S.

Majors: Electrical Egineering, Computer Information Systems

Experience can substitute for educational requirements.

Special Work Environment

Casual overtime may be required. Work entails operations and mintenance of computer network equipment, high power broadcast euipment, and an 8.1m earth terminal. Carrying, lifting, and maintaining equipment aloft required. Candidate must able to lift 50 pounds.
