This position is located in the Integrated Air and Missile and Ballistic Missile Defense division of Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT), Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Duties as a Ballistic Missile Defense Specialist include but are not limited to the following:
· Serving as principle advisor to COMPACFLT on all matters pertaining to Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD);
· Providing technical and operational expertise on current capabilities of the BMDs to drive the development and execution;
· Developing and implementing COMPACFLT asset management procedures supporting short and long range AM planning;
· Developing and resolving missile defense operational issues;
· Evaluating plans and policies pertaining to BMD;
· Planning, developing, implementing and executing BMD operational orders, policy and supported plans of other regional and functional combatant commanders.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Service with substantive knowledge of ballistic missile defense (BMD) systems and experience providing support for military activities. Experience at this level may include but is not limited to:
· Supporting the execution of operational plans;
· Providing support for ballistic defense operations;
· Identifying and recommending solutions to operation processes.

REQUIREMENTS:
Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

This is a Key/Emergency-Essential position. In the event of a crisis situation of war, the incumbent must continue to perform assigned duties to support mission requirements until relieved by proper authority.
Travel by military, and/or commercial aircraft may be required to attend training, conferences, etc.
Selectee is subject to uncommon tours of duty and shift work.
Selectee may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.
Work is primarily sedentary, such as sitting comfortably. There may be some walking, standing, bending or carrying light items.
