Director of Operations - Manufacturing

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Prepare the Manufacturing, Distribution, and Warehouse operations for rapid and distributed growth, through analysis, development, and implementation of strategically required IT services, human resources, automated systems and mechanical enhancements and maintenance, along with a coordinated management and information system to insure continuity between facilities, countries and all personnel

POSITION GOAL: Acts as a key leader of the division to improve organizational performance by identifying strategic and tactical goals, establishes adequate staffing levels, provides strategic sourcing, executes materials purchasing and planning, optimizes shipping and receiving, meet and exceed production goals, monitor and improve quality control standards, and oversee facilities management.

POSITION REPORTS TO: General Manager, Honolulu Cookie Company. This position must also coordinate all activities closely with positions covering retail, accounting, marketing, human resources, and other positions of responsibility within the company.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility including providing the direct input to key decisions on future growth and plans for this company

2. Identifies goals, drives performance by meeting with managers/supervisors to identify tasks to meet factory goals

3. Direct the planning for current and future requirements for production, material, manpower, equipment, and space to effectively and efficiently manufacture and distribute company products to company-owned retail outlets and other mediums of product distribution

4. Maintain facilities management for storage, space needs, production, efficient workflow, and customer and employee safety (OSHA requirement compliance)

5. Manage direct reports consisting of purchasing manager, and multiple production managers (and their direct reports) to direct, coach, mentor, and set goals and responsibilities to increase productivity and quality. Seeks immediate performance improvements

6. Ensures staff is trained to excel in efficiently meeting production goals

7. Continually assesses staff, work flows, and systems. Proposes and implements changes to existing processes to streamline and improve overall performance while maintaining cost controls and creating cost effective use of resources

8. Ensures effective and timely communication occurs within and across departments through formal staff meetings, ad-hoc meetings, feedback sessions, written and other informational communication

9. Keep the Owners and General Manager fully informed of all issues affecting the operations of the production and warehouse facility by constantly monitoring production performance, employee and cross-departmental feedback, employee morale and input, and through observations of competitors and their practices.

10. Be creative in finding and implementing manufacturing best practices to improve production, quality control, cost management and employee safety throughout the manufacturing facility

11. Participate in any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time to grow and support the companys success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree

Minimum 7 years progressive experience in manufacturing/warehouse operations

Minimum 5 years supervisory/management experience

Experience with supply chain function (sourcing, purchasing, inventory control, materials management)

Bakery operations experience preferred

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team for maximum results

Excellent communication skills

Strong organizational and work management skills
