Director of Human Resources- GUAM at Honolulu

Job Description

Human Resources

  • Design, implement and manage talent sourcing activities with the talent recruitment team to attract high caliber candidates and positively position the company in the labor market.
  • Manage a recruitment process that allows transfers, promotions, and relocations to be handled efficiently, responding to business needs in a timely and effective manner, including visa and work permit procurement.
  • Ensure development plans are in place for managers and staff to increase talent strength in the local talent initiatives.
  • Oversee the administration of performance management systems. .
  • Monitor and ensure positive employee relations in all locations creating a work environment conducive to high productivity, retention and attraction of high caliber talent.
  • Conduct periodic visits and audits in store locations.
  • Represent Human Resources in Division strategy meeting and Global Human Resources meetings.
  • Manage all Human Resources Department budget requirements, identifying opportunities to maximize effectiveness and value of expenditure in the Division.
  • Maintain open door policy for all employees at all levels.
  • Lead in all employee relations actions.
  • Support all divisional training programs and initiatives, MT and mentoring programs

 

Business Partner

  • Advisor to and partners with the Managing Director and Division Human Resources on all talent decisions including acquisition, promotions, development and placement.
  • Partner with Division Management to develop staffing plans for expansion or reduction in business and any other actions that impact Division’s talent base.
  • Advise the Managing Director and Division Management Team on the interpretation and implementation of Company policies, applicable Government and local laws as they affect human resources decisions and actions.
  • Implementing Corporate and division policies, with consideration of local legislative and industrial relations context.
  • Reviewing with the Managing Director the development and alignment of Human Resources policies and practices within the Division as appropriate.
  • Formulate Human Resources objectives and methods. Communicating new and or changes to Division policies to Human Resources Managers.
  • Serve as the source for local, regional, and global human resources practices/legislation which provide opportunities for or impact division businesses.
  • Share learning and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of Division human resources systems.

 

Employee Relations

  • Assure compliance and consistent application of policies and laws across all constituents, including appropriate documentation and timely record keeping.
  • Recommend changes to policies and procedures as justified by changing and unique circumstances.
  • Conduct local management compensation surveys and hourly wage surveys and recommend appropriate actions based on findings to Managing Director and Global Compensation and Benefits Director.
  • Represent the Division in any labor related legal matters with assistance from legal counsel.
  • Apply remuneration strategies in line with corporate and division philosophy and structure, in support of business goals. Managing process of annual appraisals, incentives, and remuneration reviews.
  • Actively support effective payroll management and maximizing operational productivity opportunities with the Division, including staff commission and incentive schemes

Job Requirements

  • Must have Bachelor’s Degree in HR or equivalent.
  • 5 to 7 years senior level experience in a large organization with primary focus on human resources, or related business experience.
  • Proficient in MS computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
  • Valid Driver License – Must be able to travel to various worksites both on and off island; overnight stay may be required.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin preferred
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Able to hold sensitive and confidential materials in strict confidence.
  • Able to work under stringent deadlines and high pressure office.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work well with personnel at various levels.
  • Must have strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Function as a resourceful and proactive team member.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to work with complex issues.
  • Ability to work independently and on weekends and outside of regular office hours, if required.
  • Ability to travel multiple times per year to attend meetings.
