A Technician is needed to provide quality service and repair of the Altec product line at customer sites, primarily of truck-mounted hydraulic equipment. Work from your home with a company service vehicle, special tools, lap top, cell phone, training, and support.

Provide effective maintenance, warranty, and repair services (structural and routine) on all Company product lines and selected other equipment.
Possess the basic skills and knowledge necessary to work on Aerials, Full Flow Derricks, Basic Hydraulics and Basic Electrical.
Experience could be gained in the servicing of same or related heavy equipment, e.g., MOBILE HYDRAULIC AERIAL EQUIPMENT, farm tractors, cranes, ground support equipment (GSE), construction equipment, MRAPs, dozers, tanks.
Able to complete company-sponsored training and certification during the first year(s) of employment, e.g., Fluid Power Society (FPS) certification, Basic Hydraulic, Basic Electrical, Large and Small Aerial classes.
Basic knowledge of Electrical and JIC schematics.
Ability to learn computer skills necessary for communication and records keeping.
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Weekly work schedules are not likely to be uniform. Travel is required, extensively at times, to meet customer needs.
Physical effort is required, lifting up to 75 pounds, including service-related tools.
Frequent stooping, bending, squatting and kneeling required to service and repair equipment, with dexterity required in the use of hand and power tools.
This position requires a DOT card and the ability to maintain the assigned company vehicle and vehicle inventory in a clean, organized manner.
Service includes troubleshooting and repair of chassis electrical interface; setting and verifying hydraulic pressures and determining overall condition of machines through inspection and operation; performing major tasks such as rotation bearing and boom replacement; performing leveling and drive cable/chain replacement; pump and PTO diagnosis and replacement; hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting; replacing electrical and hydraulic components.
The position involves maintenance, service and repair including PM inspections. First priority is to safety practices and procedures consistent with Altec policy and any requirements as may be given by the customer.
Keep skills and knowledge base current. Acquire an effective knowledge of service procedures.
Utilize operators and parts & maintenance manuals to determine procedures and in identifying parts.
Success in a field position depends on clear and concise communication and outstanding interpersonal skills.
Maintain accurate records of all service, repair and other work. Record-keeping such as time tracking, parts inventory, customer invoicing, and expense reporting, is key.
Assist in providing instruction to customer staff.
Coordinate with sales representatives and supervisor for possible new product needs and for comprehensive understanding of customer relationship.
Work to generate additional service and parts revenue, as appropriate.
Provide training to more junior level or less experienced associates.
